Live Now Streaming App

Last Updated: February 26, 2025

While there are many free and paid streaming applications available for iOS and Android, we recommend Live Now. It is a paid RTMP streaming application but is less than $13 per year for unlimited streaming. Users can create multiple custom RTMP streams for quick retrieval and instant recording. It is very simple to use, includes the ability to add scoreboards and also allows you to install it on a phone as a companion app for remote control of the iPad or Android tablet that you are recording from.

Live Now Instructions

  1. Download the Live Now application for your tablet or recording device. You can find the application in the Apple Store or Google Play.
  2. Use their free trial to test out how to use this streaming app with WatchGameFilm.
  3. Make sure to contact help@watchgamefilm.com to receive your team's Streaming Key.

Configure Live Now

When you launch the Live Now application, you will see the screen below. Select the RTMP option to configure your WatchGameFilm stream.

Next, create your custom RTMP options; one entry for each WGF film type. Make sure you have correctly entered the RTMP URL as well as your Streaming Key.

Select Video Quality

Once you have configured the RTMP streams, click on the stream that you want to record with. At the bottom of the page is the Video Quality option. Click on it to record in either 1080p, 720p or 480p. 1080p records at 6 Mbps so your WI-FI must have a good upload bandwidth. You can use SpeedTest.Net to determine your upload bandwidth.

Additional Settings

On the More button at the bottom of the page, beside the Video Quality button, you can configure additional features such as which camera you want to use, if you want to save a copy of the video to your device in case you lose your WI-FI connection while recording, etc.

Start Recording

Once you are fully configured, click Next to access the recording page. Note that if you are recording in a gym, you can use the front-facing wide-angle camera on the iPad to record hoop-to-hoop.

Begin recording your video. When you stop recording, your video will be posted to your team within a few minutes. Do not try to start recording again during this processing time, as your previous recording needs to be cleared out before you can record again.

You may start a new recording after your video has posted to your WGF team or you have received an email notifying you the video is ready.
